s a nonfiction writer, I write pieces about public policy and the arts. Almost all of my pieces appear in the New Haven Advocate, my local alternative weekly. Like many newspapers, the Advocate once maintained a full archive of its pieces. It no longer does. Copies of my articles are available from the Advocate or from me on request. A selected bibliography is attached to my resume, but an article I wrote in June 2007 about New Haven's immigration policy appears here. Book reviews I've written have appeared in the Village Voice, Las Vegas Weekly, and New Haven Review.

I also wrote a long piece called "Imagining the Next War," covering a conference of the same name sponsored by the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation. That piece was published in March 2007 and is available here as a PDF; hard copies are available from the foundation upon request.

Somewhere on this website, I used to say that I would be a horrendous blogger, and I am. Nonetheless, I find myself blogging occasionally for Tor.com and the New Haven Review. Decide for yourself how good I am at it.

Finally, here is a piece I wrote about old-time music for Ed Champion's blog. Thanks to Ed for giving me an avenue to write about music I love.
